He was born in 1952 in Denizli. He has completed his high school education in 1968 in Izmir Private Turkish College, higher education in 1973 in Izmir Economic and Commercial Sciences Academy.

He has started his business life at the ginning factory in 1966 while he attended high school. Ismet Abalıoğlu, who is the Vice President of Cafer Sadık Abalıoğlu Holding Inc. Board of Directors, is the President of Dentas Corrugated Cardboard and Paper Industries Inc., Abalıoğlu Automotive Inc. and Abalıoğlu Textile Industries. Inc. Board of Directors, whereas he is a member of Abalıoğlu Cotton Industries. Inc., Er-Bakır Electrolytic Copper Products Inc. and Dentaş Paper Industries Inc. Board of Directors.

Ismet Abalıoğlu who believes that the sensitivity for the environment is a social responsibility and who has been the pioneer of many studies either personally or through group companies about the environment; is the founder president of Nature and Environment Foundation (DOCEV) which was founded in 1996 in order to diffuse the conscious of nature and environment and he is still the President of the Foundation's Board of Directors.

He is a member of the Founders of Cafer Sadık Abalıoğlu Education and Culture Foundation.
